Weldon Eugene Munson, 79, of Carthage, Ill., died at 1:42 p.m. Wednesday, March 30, 2005, at Hancock County Nursing Home in Carthage.
Born Oct. 9, 1925, in Carthage, he was the son of Marion A. "Doc" and Bernice G. Landon Munson. On Nov. 27, 1968, he married Marjorie M. Pitt in Carthage. She preceded him in death.
Mr. Munson worked for many years for NTN Bower in Macomb, Ill., before retiring in 1988.
He attended Carthage High School. He was a World War II Navy veteran and served in the South Pacific, Japan, China and Korean theaters. He was a lifetime member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5117 and a member of the Thomas Munson foundation.
Survivors include three stepdaughters, Donna Hills of Carthage, Dixie Reginetter of Revere, Mo., and Debbie Bourgeois of Kahoka, Mo.; one stepson, Rusty Pitt of Hamilton, Ill.; five stepgrandchildren; five stepgreat–grandchildren; one sister, Betty Boyer of Carthage; one brother, Marion Munson of Houston; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and four sisters.
The funeral for Mr. Munson will be at 1 p.m. today at Printy Funeral Home in Carthage. Burial will be in Moss Ridge Cemetery in Carthage.
A memorial has been established for Blessing Hospice of Hancock County.
