Mrs Fern Langley, 74, longtime Dodge City and former Spearville resident, of 1300 Avenue H, died in Trinity Hospital, Tuesday afternoon after being in the hospital for about a week. She had been in ill health through the winter.
She was born April 4, 1896, in Hancock County, Ill and grew up in Illinois. She and Albert L Langley were married in 1914. They moved to the Panhandle of Oklahoma, where they homesteaded land, and therafter they lived in Oregon and Colorado before they moved to Spearville, in 1923.
After Mr Langley's death in 1928, Mrs Langley moved to Dodge City. She was an employee of a laundry here for some time and later, for more than 20 years.. Mrs Langley was an employee of Jack's Cafe.
She was a member of the Central Christian Church.
Survivors include a son William I of Dodge City; two daughters, Mrs CV Stukalo of Mather Air Force Base, Calif and Mrs Donald Roth of Dodge City; three half-brothers, James Burns of Moline, Ill, Walton Burns of Carthage, Ill and Joseph Burns of Orfino, Idaho; seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
The funeral has been set for 2pm Thursday in the Barber-Dunsford Funeral Home chapel wilth Leon Weece, minister, officiating. Burial will be in the Maple Grove Cemetery.
