Frankie L. McGrew
One-hundred-year-old Frankie L. McGrew, former resident of Gas, died Thursday, April 28, 1994, at Tara Gardens.
The daughter of John and Alvira Canaday Forrester, she was born Dec. 2, 1893, in Blue Mound. She moved to Gas in 1909. On Oct. 14, 1917, she married Ora C. "Casrl" McGrew and they made their home in Gas. Mr. McGrew died Sept. 15, 1978.
Mrs. McGrew was a longtime member of the Gas United Methodist Church. She played the piano for services there for more than 60 years, until about 10 years ago. In addition to her church work, she enjoyed growing flowers.
Survivors include two sons, Gerald McGrew of Tulsa and Jack McGrew, Iola; two daughters, Mrs. John (Florice) Ford of Springfield, Mo., and Mrs. Charles (Shirley) Menzie, LaHarpe; nine grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Two brothers, five sisters and a great-grandchild also are deceased.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Waugh-Yokum and Friskel Memorial Chapels, 16 N. Buckeye. The Rev. Eva Howard will officiate. Interment will be in Highland Cemetery.
Memorial contributions to the Gas United Methodist Church may be left with the funeral home.
