WALKER, Minn. - A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial celebrating the life of Martha ''Marty'' Kathleen Arndt, age 71, of Walker, MN, will be at 10 a.m. on Saturday, October 17, 2009 at St. Agnes Catholic Church in Walker, MN. Marty died unexpectedly on Monday, October 12, 2009 at the North Country Regional Hospital in Bemidji as a result of stomach cancer. The Rev. Mark Coen will officiate. Inurnment will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Walker, MN.

Family and friends may gather after 9 a.m. on Saturday, Oct 17, 2009 at St. Agnes Catholic Church in Walker, MN. Arrangements are with the Daniel Funeral Home, St. Cloud, MN. Ph. 1-800-358-3313 or www.danielfuneralhome.com.

Marty was born on March 12, 1938 in Fort Dodge, Iowa to George and Angeline (Fideler) Ertl. She graduated from St. Edmond High School in Fort Dodge, IA in 1956 and Fort Dodge Junior College in 1958. Later she attended the State College of Iowa. She taught elementary school in Clear Lake, IA and later Owatonna, MN. She married Ronald A. Arndt on July 2, 1966 in the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Ft. Dodge, IA. She lived in the following cities: Owatonna until 1972, Litchfield (1973-1980), Ortonville (1980- 1983), Jamestown, N.D. (1983-1997), moving to Walker, MN in 1997. In Walker, she loved her Sunbay home and neighbors. Since 1997 she spent the Winter months in Surprise, AZ.

Marty's activities included golfing, fishing, bowling, card playing, Mah Jong and talking on the phone. She loved to travel extensively, visiting friends and relatives and seeing new places. She will be remembered as a wonderfully sociable person and will be missed by all who knew her.

Survivors include her loving husband of 43 years Ron, son Eric of Devils Lake, N.D.; sisters Mary Lou Barrett of Rapid City, S.D. and Patricia Mikulsky of Grand Island, NY and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one niece Patricia Lee Barrett.

Memorials are preferred to the Del Webb/Banner Memorial Hospital Foundation, St. Agnes Catholic Church Building Fund or the National Stroke Association.
