William H. Agnew, 85, of Route 1, Keyser, died Saturday, Nov. 20, 2010, at the Heartland of Keyser Nursing Home.

Born on May 26, 1925, at Antioch, he was a son of the late Daniel William and Bessie E. (Roberts) Agnew. He also was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth R. (Rotruck) Agnew on June 12, 2006; a daughter, Deborah D. Agnew; and a sister, Elva Rogers.

Mr. Agnew was the retired owner and operator of the former Western Auto Store in Keyser. He started working at age 16 at Lou's Auto in Keyser and also formerly managed the H-P Store in Keyser. A 1944 graduate of Keyser High School, Mr. Agnew was also a member of the Antioch United Methodist Church and the Bedford County, Pa. Trapshooters Association.

Surviving are two sons, Dennis W. Agnew and wife Dottie of Burlington, and Daniel S. Agnew and wife Michelle of Las Vegas, Nev.; two brothers, Andrew C. Agnew Sr. and wife Peggy and Daniel C. Agnew and wife Diane, all of Burlington; two sisters, Twila Sions of Keyser, and Althea Landes and husband Lyle of Antioch; six grandsons, Dean Agnew, Darren Agnew, Derrick Agnew and wife Ann, Christopher Agnew and wife Amanda, Jeffrey Agnew and Nicholas Agnew; and three great-granddaughters, Alexis Nicole Agnew, Carly Ruth Agnew and Ella Nicole Agnew. Also surviving are a large number of nieces and nephews.

At Mr. Agnew's request, there will be no public visitation.

Graveside services will be held at the Thrush Cemetery, Antioch, on Wednesday, Nov. 24, 2010, at 1:30 p.m. with the Rev. Andrew C. Agnew Sr. officiating.

Interment will follow.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be directed to the WV Chapter of the Alzheimer's Association, 1111 Lee St. E., Charleston, WV 25301 or to the American Cancer Society, 122 S. High St., Morgantown, WV 26501.
