Carl J. Allen, age 86, of Stanton passed away January 10, 2011 at home with his family by his side. Carl was born September 20, 1924 to William and Mary (Wood) Allen in Pierson, Michigan.
He married Evelyn Ruth Buskirk on April 14, 1945. Carl and Ruth lived on a family farm until their retirement when they moved to Rapid River in the Upper Peninsula. Carl worked for Carnation Milk Company and farmed until retirement.
Carl is survived by his sons: William (Dorothy) of Crystal, Joel (Darlynn) of Stanton, daughters Carol Recker Goodwin of Vestaburg, Bonnie Palmer of Edmore, Kay Allen of Fort Worth, Texas; 15 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren and a sister-in-law, Eileen Allen.
Carl was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth; infant son, Danny; son, John; parents, William and Mary; in-laws, Orville and Grace Buskirk; son-in-laws: Leon Palmer, Donald Recker and Gary Goodwin; an infant brother, Edward; brothers: Donald and Floyd; sisters: Myrtle Banner, Nellie Christenson, Margie Allen and Virginia Holford.
A funeral service for Carl will be held on Thursday, January 13, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at the Ferris Center Church of Christ. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, January 12, 2011 from 3 to 7 p.m. at Brigham Funeral Chapel in Vestaburg.
