Elva Effie Dawson Norwood was the 2nd daughter of Joseph Russell and Annie Bennett Dawson who lived on a homestead in Arbon Valley just south of Pocatello, Idaho. Annie was visiting her parents in Utah when Elva was born. Elva was tall and slim with black hair and was a pleasant happy outgoing disposition. Elva and Ronald Glen Norwood met in High School where he was the student Body President and Elva was the secretary. They dated until after graduation when she married Ronald on Nov 11, 1931 in the Salt Lake City Utah Temple. Four children were born to this couple: Marjory Dell, July 14, 1932; Melba Joan, Aug 14, 1934; Jerry Richard (Dick), July 1, 1938; and Robert Allen (Bud), Feb 4, 1940. Elva was diagnosed with a goiter early in 1940, but she wanted to nurse her new baby. The doctors said it would be "ok" so it was decided to wait to do surgery. By June when she was operated on it was too late to stop the goiter or cancer. Elva was taken home to her sister's place in Riverside, Idaho. She was there only a few days when she died on July 26, 1940.
