Stephen Russ Allen, 61 WESTBROOK -- Stephen Russ Allen, 61, of Westbrook, died Wednesday, Aug. 27, 2008, at the Gosnell Memorial Hospice House in Scarborough after a long illness. Born April 8, 1947, in Camden, he was the son of Edgar F. and Lucille B. Colson Allen. He attended Portland and Falmouth schools, graduating from Falmouth High School in 1965. Stephen served in the U.S. Navy from 1966- 1972, during the Vietnam War aboard on the U.S.S. Enterprise. He was a member of the American Legion. Stephen worked for years at Anchor Hocking Glass Co. in California, and at Sappi Paper Co. of Westbrook. He loved fishing, hunting, swimming, waterskiing, the 'Red Sox' and the 'Patriots.' Stephen spent summers as a child at camp on Little Sebago Lake, and later at Pitcher Pond in Lincolnville. He is survived by his wife, Susan Wernig Allen of Westbrook; parents, Edgar and Lucille Colson Allen of Belfast; sisters, Madalienne and her husband Lawrence Rowell of Falmouth, Patricia and her husband Charles Hird of Dresden, brother Brian and his wife Julie Allen of Lincolnville; children, daughters, Shellina and Shawna of California and Jennifer and her husband Craig Elliott of Windham, sons, Shannon and his wife Laurie Allen of Milo, Stephen R. Allen of Westbrook and William and his wife Krista Jordan of Westbrook; 12 grandchildren; one great-grandchild and many nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles. Stephen's family and many, many friends will remember his loyalty, sense of humor and friendship. As Stephen always said, 'Peace Man,' and he left us peacefully at the Gosnell Memorial Hospice House in Scarborough. Visiting hours will be held on Saturday, Sept. 6, from 5-7 p.m., followed by a memorial service at 7 p.m., at the Dolby Funeral Chapel, 434 River Rd., Windham. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Sept. 13, at 1 p.m., at the United Christian Church in Lincolnville. Interment will follow at the Upper Cemetery on Heal Road, Lincolnville.
