Roland Aholt, 90, Okawville, Ill., formerly of Washington, passed away Thursday, Feb. 9, 2006, at the Cedar Ridge Health Care Center in Lebanon, Ill.
Mr. Aholt was born Nov. 30, 1915, in Washington, the son of Hugo Aholt and wife Regina, nee Meyer.
He was united in marriage to Genevieve Leadendecker Aug. 29, 1940, at Notre Dame Catholic Church, Wellston.
Mr. Aholt was a dairy farmer in Okawville and previously a barber in St. Louis.
He was a member of St. Barbara Catholic Church in Okawville where he served as a trustee for many years.
Mr. Aholt was a member of the Msgr. Albert Jerome Knights of Columbus Council 12799 of Okawville, Holy Name Society and the Washington County Farm Bureau. He served on the board of the Washington County Senior Services.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one grandson, Chad McCord; one brother, Francis Aholt; and one sister, Viola Eckhoff.
He is survived by his wife, Genevieve, Okawville, Ill., 11 children, Betty Gross and special friend Bob Vaninger, Trenton, Ill., Janet Grout and husband Paul, Houston, Texas, Jim Aholt and wife Rita, Lee's Summit, JoAnn Shew and husband Ed, St. Louis, Larry Aholt and wife Mary, Okawville, Ill., Anna Conner and husband Gar, St. Joseph, Marian McCord and husband Larry, St. Louis, Rita Pratt and husband Jim, St. Charles, Steve Aholt and wife Tammy, Okawville, Ill., Rick Aholt, Highland, Ill., and Chris Laine and husband Bill, Evansville, Ind., two brothers, Ervin Aholt, Sun City, Fla., and Raymond Aholt and wife Theresa, Washington; three sisters, Agnes Maune, Mary Eckelkamp and husband Mel, and Dorothy Beste and husband Robert, all of Washington; 33 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
A funeral Mass was held Saturday, Feb. 11, at St. Barbara Catholic Church in Okawville, Ill. Father Elmar Mauer officiated.
Burial was in the church cemetery.
