Elizabeth "Betty" Abu-Azzam (nee Anderson), 76, of New Brighton, MN died Sunday, July 9, 2006 at Regions Hospital in St. Paul, MN of injuries received in an automobile accident.
She was born January 30, 1930 in Cumberland, to David and Margaret (Shellito) Anderson. Betty was raised in the Section 10 area and attended Barron County Normal School. She received her bachelor's degree from the University of Superior and her master's degree from the University of Minnesota. Betty began teaching at Arland. She also taught at Turtle Lake and Mahtomedi. Betty retired in the late 1980s after teaching at Brimhall School in Roseville, MN for over 30 years.
She is survived by two sisters, Joanne (William) Ranallo of Cumberland and Lois (Arlen) Stensland of LaPorte, MN, two brothers, Marvin (Carol) Anderson of Sarona, and Douglas (Joy) Anderson of Mound, MN, one sister-in-law, Lois Anderson of Luck, and nieces and nephews
She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Milford Anderson.
Funeral services were held Thursday, July 13, 2006 at St. Anthony Catholic Church, Cumberland, with Father John Spanjers officiating. Burial followed in St. Anthony Cemetery, Cumberland.
Pallbearers were Jerry Ranallo, Rick Ranallo, Bob Ranallo, David Stensland, Jon Stensland, Steve Anderson, Jim Anderson and Jeff Anderson.
