Mrs. Mandy Elizabeth Pryor Davis, 93, of 631 Oak Grove Road, departed her earthly life on Sunday, Jan. 6, 2008 and joined her Lord and Savior in her heavenly home.
She was born July 13, 1914, in the No. 5 Township of Cleveland County, a daughter of the late Charley Pryor and Emma Hullender Pryor.
In addition to her parents, a son, Roy Lee Davis; four sisters, Ethel Champion; Vernie Philbeck, Lelah Dixon and Mary Sue Goforth; and two brothers, Howard Pryor and Will Pryor preceded her in death.
On Jan. 15, 1939, she married William Franklin Davis and devoted the remainder of her life as a loving and faithful wife. She was a very loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister. She was previously employed as a cafeteria worker with Kings Mountain Schools and also worked at White Oak Manor. She spent most of her life as a homemaker. Mandy loved flowers and cooking for her family. She was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church in Kings Mountain and was a member of the Lydia Sunday School Class for many years. She will be remembered as a very humble, sweet lady who made the best apple pies in the world.
Mrs. Davis is survived by husband, Franklin Davis; sons, Edward Davis and wife, Sue, William "Willie" Davis and wife, Diane, Carl Davis and wife, Judy, and Toy Davis and wife, Kathleen, all of Kings Mountain; nine grandchildren, Bobby Davis and wife, Karen, of Charlotte, Dennis Davis and wife, Terri, of Lincolnton, Donald Davis and wife, Stephanie, Beth Davis Chambers and husband, Dale, Perry Davis and wife, Shannon, David Davis and wife, Tonia, all of Kings Mountain, and James Robert Philbeck, Brian Davis and Max Davis and wife, Darlene, all of Grover; 16 great-grandchildren, Dwayne Mayes, Miranda Davis, Lacey Davis, Jordan Leigh Ann Davis, Grayson Chambers, Hannah Chambers, Blake Davis, all of Kings Mountain; Graham Davis of Charlotte; Brittany Davis, Christopher Davis, Reagan Davis, Beth Davis, Julian Davis, Skylar Davis, Dillon Philbeck and Jordan Philbeck, all of Grover; sister, Ruby Reed of Gastonia; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation: The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at Harris Funeral Home and other times at the home of Ed and Sue Davis, 631 Oak Grove Road, Kings Mountain.
