Mrs. Smith, 91, a guest at Homewood Retirement Center, Martinsburg, formerly of Roaring Spring RD, died at 2:15 a.m. Thursday, March 1, 1990, at the home. She was born May 1, 1898, in Roaring Spring, the daughter of Albert B. and Flora (Hoover) Miller, and July 30, 1915, in Duncansville, married Charles A. Smith, who died April 16, 1968. Surviving are 12 children: Violet of Grafton, Ohio; Nell Rickard of Dunellon, Fla., Mary Burns and Harold W. of Roaring Spring; Glenn A., Charles A. Jr., and Paul A. of Roaring Spring RD; Lena Victory of Aurora, Colo., Virginia Tate of Duncansville RD, Leanore Stone of Phelps, N.Y.; and Dean A. and Betty Lou Rhodes of Martinsburg RD; 37 grandchildren, 46 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. Also surviving are four brothers and sisters: Marvin of Martinsburg, Ethel Kagerise
of Holliday, Fla., Lillian Ebersole of Philadelphia, and Nelson of Houston, Texas. A sister, Verona VanPelt, died Feb. 12, 1990. Mrs. Smith was a member of St. Matthew's Lutheran Church, Martinsburg. Interment in Fairview Cemetery, Martinsburg.
