Albert R. Allen, 83, a lifelong resident of Reno, died at 3:30 a.m., Monday, Oct. 18, 2010, at UPMC Northwest in Seneca after an extended illness.
Born Nov. 28, 1926, in Reno, he was a son of John W.S. and Mary Alice Rossman Allen.
Mr. Allen was well known as the owner of the Reno Wolf's Head Service Station, which he ran for 37 years. He also was employed at General Telephone Company, the Venango County Airport and worked many years as a meter reader for Rhodes Water and Sewer.
He enjoyed meeting with friends for breakfast, hunting for golf balls and walking the surrounding woods, which was his favorite pastime.
He was married June 10, 1949, to the former Irene Krepp, who survives.
Also surviving are three children, Maryjane Allen of Reno, Marcia Moyer and her husband, Jim, of Rocky Grove and Duane Allen and his wife, Sarah, of State College; seven grandchildren, Erica Haubrich, Dan Dayton, Drew Dayton, Elissa Dayton, Amanda Allen, Jordan Allen and Abigail Allen; and two greatgrandchildren.
She also is survived by a sister, Ruth Gegogeine and her husband, Glenn, of Reno.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the Morrison Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home with the Rev. Scott Woodlee, pastor of the Christian and Missionary Alliance Church in Franklin, officiating.
Interment will be in Reno Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial be made to the Reno Volunteer Fire Department.
