Obituary:
Marilyn Ronk Lyons, of Laurens, SC, formerly of Madison, IN, born on November 5, 1936, passed away on Monday, March 16, 2009, at her daughter's home in Knoxville, TN after a long illness. Marilyn is survived by her, daughters Lou Ann Hanvey and son-in-law Curtis Hanvey, Sr., of Knoxville, TN, Donna Kennedy and son-in-law Charles Kennedy of Laurens, SC, Andrea Shorb of Laurens, SC. Seven grandchildren, Patrick Bryce Hanvey of Marietta, GA, Shannon Hanvey, of Ashville, NC, Kelli Berrio of Knoxville, TN, April Trammell of Union, SC, Alex Kennedy of Laurens, SC, Brian Simpson, of Laurens, SC, Jamie Brooks, of Simpsonville, SC. Three step-grandchildren, Curtis Hanvey Jr, of Sunset, SC, Jody Hanvey, of Greenville, SC, and Denah Moon of Rock Hill, SC. Four great-grandchildren Jordan Trammell, Hailey Simpson, AJ Berrio, and Evan Brooks. She is also survived by brothers Charles Schnabel of Madison, IN, Don Schnabel of Port Charlotte, FL and sister Linda Adams of Madison, IN and sister-in-laws, Jean Lyons, Louise Lyons, Lorraine Lyons, Cleta Lyons, Roselle Schnabel and brother-in-law Paul Adams all of Madison, IN and Barbara Lyons of Las Vegas, NV, and brother-in-law James Lyons also of Madison, IN, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. She is preceded in death by her spouse Donald Lyons and parents William and Muriel Schnabel, brothers-in-laws, John, George, Maurice, and Wayne Lyons of Madison, IN, and Michael Lyons of Huston, TX and sister-in-law Marcella Lyons of Madison, IN. Marilyn was retired from Asten in Joanna, SC. She was a member of Atonement Lutheran Church in Laurens, SC. Marilyn enjoyed for many years the company of her dog Sassie. She enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, watching Law and Order, taking trips with her daughters and spending time with her dear friend Allene Hocker. The family would like to express a special thanks to the doctors, nurses and assistants at Caris Hospice and Carolina Cancer Center for the wonderful care that they provided. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 154 Milestone Way Greenville, South Carolina 29615. The family will receive friends on Thursday, March 19, 2009 from 7:00 – 9:00 at The Kennedy Mortuary, 606 W Main St, Laurens, SC. Funeral services will be at Atonement Lutheran Church, 415 W Farley Ave, Laurens, SC on Friday, March 20, 2009 at 2:00 pm. Burial will follow the services at Forest Lawn Cemetery.
