SALINA - Mrs. Ellen McFadyen Atkin, 62, died Friday following a three weeks' illness of diabetes.
She was born June 20, 1870, at Gunnison and was one year old when her parents, Mr. and Mrs. William McFadyen, returned to Salina after having been driven out by the Indians. Her mother was the first white woman living in Salina.
She married Thomas H. Atkin who died in 1929. Surviving are five sons and daughters; Mrs. Wills Johnson, Payson; Arabella, Sharon, Ferris and Lowell Atkin, Salina and six grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted in the LDS Second Ward Chapel Sunday noon, with burial in Salina City, Cemetery.
