He enjoyed traveling throughout Europe and tropical islands, gardening in his greenhouse and outdoor gardens, flying, and maintaining his own plane with his father, Bud Beller. He was an avid outdoorsman who had climbed the Chilkoot Trail, Mount Rainier, and trekked for a month through Mount Everest. Darrel and his life-long friend, Joe, enjoyed telemark and downhill skiing, hunting, fishing, and sailing in Prince William Sound.

He is survived by his wife, Linda; his mother, Marydell; sister, Linda; brother, Gary and his wife Donna. He was preceded in death by his father, Darrel (Bud) Beller in 1994.
