Excerpts from Obituary (St. Joseph Herald-Press, 24 Sep 1928, Monday): “Mrs. Lovicy Allen, 87, and the head of five generations, died at 4:30 a.m., Sunday [23 Sep 1928].
She has spent her entire life in and near Dayton and was the mother of eleven children of whom four sons and five daughters are living.
Other survivors are 24 grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and one great-great grandson. Her husband, Elisha Allen, died in 1910.
Six grandsons will be pall bearers, Walter Allen of Detroit; Leslie Allen of South Bend; Oscar Allen of Niles; Conway Allen of Galien; Fred Allen of Gary; and John Marble of South Bend.”
