Joan R. Burns, age 85, of Grand Rapids, went to be with her Lord on Thursday, March 5, 2015 after an extended illness. She was preceded in death by her husband, John E. Burns, and her sister, Marjorie Dykhouse. She will be lovingly remembered by her children, Julie and Tom Stob, Sue and Steve Crum, Tim Burns, Joe Burns and Larry Smith; 12 grandchildren; nine great grandchildren, with two more on the way; brother, Norman and Pat Nicholson; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Gordon Dykhouse, Jim and Lorraine Burns, Theresa Burns; and many nieces and nephews. Joan was a member of the Dominican Associates Community. Visitation will be held Saturday, March 21, from 10-11 am at the Dominican Center at Marywood, 2025 E. Fulton St., where a Memorial Mass will begin at 11 am, with Fr. Dick Host as celebrant. Memorial contributions may be given to the Dominican Center at Marywood.
