Gerald Edward Welborn, 53 of Spruce Pine, Ala., died May 17, 2001 at his residence. He was a member of Mt. Hebron Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Lucy Pickering and an uncle William McDowell.
Funeral services were May 19 at Spry Chapel with Jerome Sherrill officiating. Burial was in Franklin Memory Gardens.
He is survived by his mother, Sara Jo Hammock; his father, Edward Thornton Welborn; his step-father, Thelton Hammock; and a number of aunts and uncles.

In loving memory of Gerald Edward Welborn, Spruce Pine, Ala. He was born Sept. 21, 1947, and passed from this life at the age of 53 on May 17, 2001. He served in the armed services from 1968-1970. He attended Northwest Junior College. He was self-employed as a truck driver and truck salesman until 1996. He became disabled in 1996.
He is survived by his mother, Sara Jo Hammock; stepfather, Thelton Hammock; and by his father, Edward T. Welborn; two self-adopted children, Chad and Felisha; several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
The funeral was at Spry Chapel of Russellville, on May 19, 2001, at 1 p.m.
