Flossie Ellen (Kalar) Callantine passed away Tuesday August 12, 1997 in Madison Valley Hospital in Ennis. Flossie was born at Larimor (Union), Iowa, on December 8, 1910. She was the ninth of 12 children born to Abraham Madison and Ida Mae (Moats) Kalar.
She was raised in Iowa. On December 19, 1933, Flossie married John Chance Kalkas Jr. They had one daughter, Sharon K. Christensen of Ennis. They moved to the Gallatin Valley where they worked on ranches. They lived in Belgrade and Bozeman, later moving back to Iowa where Johnnie passed away in 1948.
Later she returned to Belgrade and on February 15, 1950, Flossie was married to William Victor (Vic) Callantine Jr. in Big Timber. They were the parents of two sons, Gary Victor and Douglas William, both now residing in Denver. The Callantines had a construction business and ranched in Pass Creek. They later moved to Manhattan where they resided until her husband, Vic's, death in 1987.
Flossie devoted her life to homemaking, her children and her beautiful lawns, flowers and vegetable gardens. It has been said you could have eaten off her floors at anytime because she was so meticulous.
Flossie moved to Legion Villa in Bozeman and later to Ennis in 1992 where she lived until her death.
Survivors include her children, four grandsons, one granddaughter, one great-grandson and two great-granddaughters. She was preceded in death by her brothers and sisters.
