NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — June Helen Chenail, 90, of 79 Tremont St. died Wednesday, Oct. 29, 2008, at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield, following a short illness.
Born in Adams, on June 18, 1918, daughter of Alcide and Leona Pelletier Lamoureux, she moved to North Adams as a child and attended the former Notre Dame School, completing its commercial course.
Mrs. Chenail was employed at the former Sprague Electric Co. in its advertising department until her retirement in 1983.
She was a communicant of St. Francis of Assisi Church and was active in Le Cercle Francais and the Gold Club. She could consistently defeat her children and grandchildren at Scrabble until a few weeks ago.
Her husband, Her husband, Norman L. Chenail, whom she married on April 26, 1941, died on March 4, 2004.
She leaves one son, Richard N. Chenail and his wife, Gunnel, of Charlotte, N.C.; two daughters, Antoinette C. Hawke and her husband, Thomas, of North Adams, and Michele D. Chenail of North Adams; a sister, Jeanne Dana and her husband, William, of Corona del Mar, Calif.; two brothers, Norman Lamoureux of North Adams and Leonard Lamoureux of Las Vegas; four granddaughters, Ingrid Doyle and her husband, John, of South Grafton, Heidi Chenail of Charlotte, Suzanne Harnick of Adams and Laura Hawke of North Adams; five great-grandchildren, Alicia Doyle, Matthew Doyle, Raquel Chenail, Danielle Harnick and Jackson Harnick; a brother-in-law, Albert Chenail of North Adams, and nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her siblings Doris Donovan, Aline Giroux and Donald Lamoureux.
