JAMES T. COURSEY
Funeral services for JAMES T. COURSEY were held at the family home, corner Clement and Broadway, Saturday morning. Rev. E. V. COLE and Rev. THOMAS LENNOX officiated. The remains were taken to the Somerville cemetery, a few miles south of Muenster, arranged by G. J. Carroll. Mr. Coursey was past 78 years of age, born in Missouri, January 15, 1846 and came to Texas in 1860. He was a pioneer settler in this section of the state and is reported to had some thrilling experiences with the Indians, his horse shot from under him.
Mr. Coursey was married to Miss EMMA GRANT, near Muenster on March 14, 1867. They reared a large family, nine of whom are now living: JOE and JAP COURSEY, Mrs. JIMMY BROWN, Mrs. MAGGIE MOYERS, Mrs. ANNE SHORT, Mrs. GEORGIA DURHAM, Mrs. R. H. JOHNSON, Mrs. CLIVA ROSSON, and Mrs. MAMIE CUMMINGS. Besides his wife and children, he is survived by 20 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and a brother A. J. COURSEY.
