Her parents were Johan Christian and Elizabeth Moore Kintner.
In 1836 she married Joseph Ebersole (1816-1880), and they had ten children. Upon her death, Joseph remarried, but his new wife, Annie Whitaker Hyder (1812-1893), had already raised one large family and did not want to raise another. It is said that the children were "farmed out."
