Wife of John -Rebekah Vickers was born on 27 May 1753 in Bucks County, PA to Peter Vickers and Ann Knight.
On 22 Feb 1774, Rebekah married John Preston at Plumstead Meeting House:
"Whereas John Preston, Son of John Preston of Buckingham in the County of Bucks of Province of Pennsylvania And Rebekah Vickers Daughter of Peter Vickers of Plumstead in the County of Bucks aforesaid having Intentions of Marriage with each other did publish the same before several Monthly Meetings of the People called Quakers in Buckingham Township in the County aforesaid according to the good Order used among them; and having the Consent of Parents & Relations concerned, their said Proposals of Marriage were allowed by the said Meeting. NOW these are to certifie all whom it may concern that for the full accomplishment of their said Intentions this 22d Day of the 2d Month in Year of our Lord 1774 they the said John Preston and Rebekah Vickers aforesaid in a publick assembly of the said People met at their usual Meeting House in Plumstead aforesaid and the said John Preston taking the said Rebekah Vickers by the Hand did in a solemn Manner openly declare that he took the said Rebekah Vickers to be his Wife promising through the Lord's assistance to be unto her a loving & faithful Husband until Death separate them (or Words to that Effect) and then & there in the same Assembly the said Rebekah Vickers did in like Manner declare that she took the said John Preston to be her Husband promising through the Lord's assistance to be unto him a loving & faithful Wife until Death should separate them (or Words to the like Import). And moreover they the said John Preston & Rebekah Vickers (she according to the Custom of Marriage assuming the Name of her Husband) as a further confirmation thereof did then & there to these Present set their Hands. And we whose Names are hereunder also subscribed being present at the Solmization of the said Marriage & Subscription in Manner aforesaid as Witnesses have set our Hands the Day & year above written. In 1783, John & Rebekah removed from Buckingham MM in Bucks Co, PA to Fairfax MM, assigned to Goose Creek MM, in Loudoun Co, VA. In 1792, John & Rebekah removed again to South River MM in Lynchburg, Campbell Co, VA, where John died in 1820. In 1831, Rebekah removed to the Philadelphia MM, along with her daughter Sarah and son Moses, and where she died in 1834.
