Thomas enlisted in Confederate Service on May 8, 1862 and served as a Private in Company H & New Company K, 12th MS Infantry.He was wounded in June of 1862 and captured at the Battle of Davis Farm, VA on Aug 21, 1864. He was exchanged on Feb. 13, 1865 and discharged after Lee's surrender on April 9, 1865.
