Birth: Apr. 14, 1914
Death: Feb. 27, 1989

Fritz was born in Vienna, Austria. The last son of his parents, he grew up living above his parents deli. He lost his father prior to the Holocaust and his mother forced the children to escape while she remained. He never forgave himself for leaving her as she was taken away and murdered and he never knew what happened to her. He traveled to Switzerland with his brother Joschi, sister-in-law Elsa and niece Edith. At some point they departed each others company and Joschi, Elsa and Edith ended up in Sosua, Dominican Republic with Fritz to follow soon after. Joschi and Fritz had several harrowing escape attempts barely escaping the Nazi's. They were arrested in Switzerland after crossing a river in order to be kept from having to be returned to the Nazi's as Switzerland was neutral. After that Fritz stayed in the same home as his future wife Trude, whom he did not know at the time. He saw a photo of her and remarked at her beauty and inquired of her name. Little did he know she had traveled with his brother on a ship to New York and then on to Sosua and at age 18 she had befriended Fritz's 12 year old niece Edith, who told Trude of her handsome athletic uncle who would be coming along soon. Fritz and Trude met in Sosua and married a year later. There they had a daughter Kitty, who perished from jaundice after just a few days, and another daughter Rita who at age 2 joined them in their move to the United States. They settled in Madison, Wisconsin and had their son Ronald. Fritz and Trude lived in Madison until Fritz's passing with a short time spent in Minneapolis for a few years where Fritz managed a Three Sisters Store. Prior to moving Fritz owned Arm's Apparel. Fritz was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He had three grandsons, Rick, Matthew and Ben and one granddaughter Lisa along with one great-grandson Eric and four great-granddaughters Kirsten, Brittany, Keara and Grace. He played soccer in Vienna and Sosua where he was known as "El Tanke" and he followed soccer while living in Minneapolis and Madison. His heart could not be any bigger and he was a man who was greatly admired by all who met him. We miss him dearly.
