Iva 'Blanche' Maples was the daughter of
Calvin Pleasant Maples and Ida Frances
'Atchley' Maples. She was the granddaughter
of Claiborn Atchley and Rhoda 'Long' Atchley
and also Pleasant Maples and Nancy Ann
Blanche lived with her parents and
sibblings in Sand Springs, Oklahoma.
She attended the Sand Springs High
School and later became a typist.
Blanche was a devoted Christian,
faithfully serving the church. She
was a member of the Broadway Baptist
Church. She never married.
She and her sister were very interested
in the history of their family. The
sisters had kept all of their mother,
Ida, personal things. Ida had kept all of
her mother, Rhoda's things. I have in my
possession 6 totes of original papers,
pictures,letters, post-cards, documents,
marriage cert., and very old Bibles that
belonged to the family. These things date
back to the very late 1800's and up to the
time of their deaths. There are post-cards
written by their grandfather, Claiborn
written in 1909 to their mother, Ida.
I plan on carefully going through all
of the wonderful things and share them
with family members. They contain info
on the Long's, Atchley's, and Maples'
families and connecting families. A
treasure of wonderful history.
