Dorothy Kennedy Fleming, 90, of Hendersonville, N.C. and formerly of Warren, died Tuesday, December 30, 2008 at Elizabeth House in Flat Rock, N.C. She was born April 22, 1918 in Cortland, Ohio, the daughter of George O. and Lena (Campbell) Kennedy.

Mrs. Fleming earned a bachelor of Science degree from Kent State University and a master's degree in home economics from The Ohio State University. She had taught home economics in the Warren City Schools and was a supervisor of school food services in Ashland, Massillon and Youngstown. She served in the U.S. Navy as a WAVE during World War II, and was a member of First Church of Christ, Scientist in Warren.

She was a life member of AAUW and the Ohio State University Alumni Association, a member of the YWCA, Monday Afternoon Club and Delta Kappa Gamma, and had been active in bowling and golf leagues. In 201, she moved to Hendersville, NC and resided at Lake Point Landing Retirment Development where she participated in many activities.

Surviving are a stepdaughter, Joyce Bennett of Hendersonville, NC; a stepson, Donald C. Fleming of Daphne, AL; eight step-grandchildren. Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband, Clifford D. Fleming, whom she married September 27, 1980 and who died January 20, 1985 and a stepdaughter, Marilyn Stimpfle.

Interment will be at 12:00 noon Tuesday, January 6, 2009 at Crown Hill Buril Park, 3966 Warren Sharon Rd., Vienna, Ohio 44473.
