Mr. Bert Aberson, 76, of Orange City died at his home on Sat., Nov. 17th of a lengthy illness. The funeral was at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 20th, at the First Reformed Church of Orange City with the Rev. Raymond Van Heukelom officiating. Burial was in the Nassau Township Cemetery at Alton with the Van Etten Funeral Home of Orange City in charge.
Mr. Aberson was born May 29, 1897 in the Netherlands. He marred Jennie Geurink Dec. 23, 1924 at Orange City. They farmed near Orange City until moving into town in 1964.
Survivors include the widow; three sons, John of Hospers and Gilbert and William both of Orange City; six daughters, Mrs. Nick (Wilmina) Cleveringa of Alton, Mrs. Bernie (Betty) Engeltjes of Edgerton, Minn., Mrs. Eugene (Jean) Van Veldhuizen of Sanborn, Mrs. Kenneth (Shirley) Van Veldhuizen of Hospers, Mrs. Jake (Joan) Dykstra of Archer and Mrs. Darrell (Esther) Vanden Berg of Rock Valley; 35 grandchildren; a great-grandchild; a sister, Mrs. Nellie Leenhout of Des Moines, and two brothers, Jo and Anton both of Alton.
