Birth: 1747
Charlotte County
Virginia, USA
Death: Mar. 15, 1781
Guilford County
North Carolina, USA

He was killed during the Battle of Guilford Courthouse and presumed buried there as the war raged on. I will update this if I find it to be incorrect.

Before the battle, Jack confided in his friend Henry Burnley that he felt he would die. Henry thought he was joking and, in turn, jokingly said to Jack that if this happened, he would marry Jack's widow and care for her and his children. Jack did die in the battle, and Henry made good on his promise, marrying Lucy Barksdale Davenport in 1782 and giving Jack's five children nine half-siblings.

Jack and Lucy's children were:
William Davenport, 1776-1827
John Smith Davenport, 1777-1858
Richard Davenport, 1778-?
Catherine "Caty" Smith Davenport, 1780-1842
Mary "Polly" Davenport, 1781-?
