Robert F. Anderson, 89, a resident of Mountain Home passed away Thursday, April 3, 2014, at the Hospice of the Ozarks Hospice House.

He was born March 1, 1925, in Franklin, Massachusetts. In August of 1942 Robert joined and served in the United States Marine Corps as Private First Class until January of 1945. During his military service he was a member of the World War II "Fighting Forth" Marine Division and fought in four major battles during the Asiatic Pacific. Robert was awarded the Purple Heart and the Presidential Unit Citation. After his military service, he married Shirley Ann Henke on August 11, 1967 in Lowell, Massachusetts. He was an avid artist, landscaper, craftsman and archer and was of the Lutheran faith.

Robert is preceded in passing by two brothers, Russell and Bud and two sisters, Faye and Shirley.

Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Shirley Anderson of Mountain Home; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Robert R. Anderson of Gig Harbor, Washington and Mark T. and Tami Anderson of Mountain Home; three daughters and a son-in-law, Gayle Dixon of Alta Loma, California, Linda rivers of Cal-Nev-Ari, Nevada and Christy L. and Windell Curtis of Mountain Home. Robert was blessed with many grandchildren and great grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, April 7, 2014, at the Conner-Hankins Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Marillyn Schultz officiating. Military Honors will be to follow by the United States Marine Corps Honor Guard.
