Elizabeth C. Bishop Elizabeth (Betsy) Champlin Bishop, 50, of Mountain Brook, Ala., went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, Nov. 18, 2009.
She was a most precious wife, mother and daughter.
She is survived by her husband, Ralph Clayton Bishop Jr.; and her two sons, Ralph Clayton Bishop III and William David Bishop. She also is survived by her mother, Elizabeth Allen Champlin; brothers, David Baldwin Champlin Jr. (Katie) and their children, Bethany and Win, of Orlando, Fla., and Dr. Stephen Allen Champlin (Staci) and their children, Aubrey and Addie, of New Orleans, La.; mother-in-law, Dorothy Caver Bishop, of Russellville, Ala.; brother-in-law, Chris Bishop (Leta) and their children, Olivia and Noah, of Rogersville, Ala.
She was preceded in death by her father, Dr. David Baldwin Champlin, and her father-in-law, Ralph Clayton Bishop.
Betsy graduated from Vestavia Hills High School in 1977 and received her undergraduate degree from the University of Alabama in 1981. She also received her juris doctorate degree from Cumberland School of Law and at Samford University in 1984.
She was a past member of the Alabama Bar Association and the Birmingham Bar Association.
Betsy was a partner in a local law firm for a number of years and was a past president of the Birmingham Young Lawyers Association.
Betsy had a tremendous love for the Lord and faithfully served the membership of Mountain Brook Community Church in a number of ministries. She had a servant's heart and always put others before herself.
Visitation will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Nov. 20, 2009, at Mountain Brook Community Church. A memorial service to celebrate Betsy's life will follow at noon.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Mountain Brook Community Church, Missions Ministry, 3001 Highway 280 E., Birmingham, AL 35243.
