Resided in Halifax County, North Carolina and was by occupation a mechanic prior to enlisting as a Private in Company G (Halifax Light Infantry), 12th North Carolina Infantry in Halifax County at the age of 28 on May 16, 1861. Present or accounted for until wounded in the back at Malvern Hill, Virginia on July 1, 1862. Died in hospital in Richmond, Virginia prior to July 17, 1862 of wounds and dysentery.
