Beloved Black and White Border Collie

Alex was the runt of the litter, born to a mother who lost a leg when kicked by a horse. Alex seemed dead when she was whelped, but her breeders were able to revive her. She grew to be a healthy dog, who loved to run and had a strong instinct for herding. Because of that, she also loved to chase cars. Extremely intelligent, she was easily bored and loved to chew anything and everything--socks, shoes, carpet, wallpaper, furniture, Christmas ornaments, electrical cords--everything. Outdoors during the summer, she liked to dig a shallow spot in the dirt and then lay in it. On occasion, she also liked to snatch freshly hung laundry from the line and bury it in the yard. Alex was at large on more than one occasion, was caught by the police, and spent those evenings in the veterinary jail, behind bars. However, she was always out on bond the next day. She was a very loving, affectionate dog. Alex lived most of her short life on Ninth St., in La Salle, Illinois, and died when she was hit by a car, in Michigan.
