Elizabeth was the wife of William Jackson Straw buried next to him in this cemetery. Elizabeth was the daughter of Andrew Kettner and Mary Jane Gladfelter/Glattfelter.
Elizabeth had two children before she married William J.Straw. The first was a son named Lyman Owen Barner born in 1868 in Clinton County, Pennsylvania. He only used the name Owen. His last name was later changed to King. Elizabeth had a daughter named Minnie Elota King in 1871.
Elizabeth was living with her daughter Lillie May Straw-Griffin in Okmulgee, Oklahoma when she died. Elizabeth's son Andrew Jackson Straw and his family lived next door to Lillie in 1920.
The Kettner and Gladfelter/Glattfelter lines came to America in the early 1700's and settled in Pennsylvania. Both families have towns named after them.
Andrew Kettner and his family, 7 children out of 8 left Pennsylvania. They were Elizabeth Jane, Elmira, Mary Rasata, Susan Catherine, Harvey Adam, Frances Amanda and Richard Daniel. Andrew's son William Best was born 5-27-1848 and died 11-15-1850 in Pennsylvania.
Andrew and the family first settled in Keokuk County, Iowa in 1869. They shortly moved to Marshalltown, Marshall County, Iowa.
Andrew, Mary and a few of their children lived out their lives around Marshalltown.
