Carl David Godwin, of Salem, Ark., son of the late Ransom Elijah and Martila (Horton) Godwin, was born April 8, 1925, at Ash Flat, Ark., He died Feb. 13, 2007, at the Fulton County Hospital in Salem at the age of 81.

He was united in marriage to Trellis Lorene Blankenship on Feb. 5, 1945, at Evening Shade, Ark., and to this union three children were born. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.

He spent his working years as a truck driver and was a member of the Salem First Baptist Church.

Survivors include: two sons, Dowl Godwin (Lynda) of Salem, and Dale Godwin (Connie) of Agnos; a daughter, Alice Carlene Jones (Wiley) of Melbourne; two brothers, Shelby Godwin of Udal, Kan., and Curtis Godwin of Spokane, Wash.; two sisters, Ruby Hasting of East Wenatchee, Wash., and Jackie Lou Arnold of Grand Coulee, Wash.; six grandchildren, Shelly Johnson Kelly Reed, Carrie Bates, Michelle Vest, Leslie Johnson and Lisa LeJeune; nine great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife; parents; a brother, Elijah Godwin and a sister, Winnie Bell Evans.

The funeral services were held Feb. 16 at the Salem First Baptist Church with Bro. John Hodges officiating. Burial followed in the Manry Cemetery in Agnos with the arrangements under the direction of Barker Funeral Home of Salem.

Pallbearers were Darren Bates, Jeff Johnson, Michael Vest, Raymond Lejeune, Eric Hurst and Tony Blankenship.
