Russie Franssen Bagley, age 88, passed away on April 19, 2008 in Austin, TX. She was a Christian lady who loved the Lord and her family. Her life has been a blessing to many. She will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered.
Russie was born on October 8, 1919 in Cleveland, TX, to Henry Seward Jasper and Irene Augusta Thomas, the third of five children. She moved to Baytown to work for Humble Oil during World War II. After the war, Russie married a local business man, Mike Franssen. Upon his death, Apr 6, 1956, she took over his local State Reserve Life Insurance Agency. Russie was a resident of Baytown from 1940 to 1999, and worked as a life insurance agent for almost 50 years. On June 3, 1972, Russie married Austin Carlisle Bagley. Russie continued her work as a life insurance agent in Baytown and A. C. worked as Parts Manager for a Chevrolet dealership in the Houston area. Russie and A. C. were members of Lakewood Church of Christ. In 1999 they moved to the Austin area to be near their daughter and grandchildren.
Russie is preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Irene Jasper; a brother, Cecil Talmadge Jasper; a sister, Willie Jasper Nugent and her husband, Lenville Coleman Nugent. Survivors include her daughter, Helen Kay Coffman of Cedar Park, TX and son-in-law, Mike Coffman of Leander, TX; a sister, Sylvia Rhoden of Friendswood, TX; a brother and sister-in-law, Henry & Laura Jasper of Dripping Springs, TX; grandchildren, Elizabeth & Al Johnson of Austin, TX and Travis & Kristi Coffman of Woodstock, GA.
Russie was a woman of integrity, great love and generosity. Her passsing brings sorrow, as she will be missed beyond words. But it also brings joy because she is at peace in heaven.
The family would like to thank Lighthouse Hospice for their compassionate care of Russie through the last months of her illness.
Visitation will be held from 6 - 8 pm on Tuesday, Apr 22, 2008. Funeral services will be conducted at 10 am on Wednesday, Apr 23, 2008 at Earthman Funeral Home in Baytown. Officiating will be David Ellis.
