Marvin Casey (1919-2012)
Services for Marvin Albert Casey, 92, retired U.S. Air Force, will be conducted at 10 a.m. on Thursday, May 24, 2012 at West Sherman Baptist Church. Rev. Danny Wood will officiate. Interment is immediately following the service at Cedarlawn Memorial Park with full military honors accorded by Sheppard Air Force Base.
Visitation will be held from 6 -8 p.m. on Wednesday, May 23 at Dannel Funeral Home.
Marvin died Monday, May 21, 2012. He enjoyed 92 years of good health. He was born on Friday, Ocober 24, 1919 in Light, Ark. to Darrel and Nola Casey. His father's profession was a school teacher which resulted in the family settling in Lepanto, Ark. He graduated there from High School where he also met his future wife, Cassie Valine May Casey. He enlisted in the Army Air Corps in 1940. Marvin served during World War II, in Korea and in England, Germany and one tour in Vietnam. He was also stationed at many different bases in the U.S. He retired in 1971 with 28 plus years of honorable service in the USAF. He attained the rank of Senior Master Sergeant. After retiring from the Air Force, Marvin worked for Hopkins & Co. designing and installing burglary and fire alarm systems. He then worked for Mehaffey and Co. on durable medical equipment retiring in 1990.
He was a member of West Sherman Baptist Church. He served as a deacon and Sunday school teacher.
Marvin is survived by his son, Al Dennis Casey and wife Linda G.; daughter, Linda Y. Pendley; grandson, John Casey and wife Seeley; granddaughters, Sheri Beatty and husband Mark, Shelley Crockett and husband Cory, Amy Walker and husband Andy; great-granddaughters, Lauren and Kristin Beatty, Ava Walker; great-grandsons, Clayton Beatty, Austin Crockett and Jack and Luke Casey; great-great-grandson, Cayden Beatty. Also, sisters-in-law, Bobbie Scrape of Memphis, Tenn., Corinne Vick of Jonesboro, Ark., Jean Casey of Lepanto, Ark., Mary Lou Casey of Mesa, Ariz.; nephews, Dr. Jake Casey of Jonesboro, Ark., Johnny Casey and wife Nancy of Tuscon, Ariz.; nieces, Laurel Everett and daughter Casey of Marked Tree, Ark., Pat King and husband Tom of Casa Grande, Ariz., Cindy Jorgensen and husband James of Mesa, Ariz.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Cassie Valine Casey, son, George Daniel Casey, parents and 3 brothers. Marvin was the last surviving member of his family.
