In 1924 Martha became quite ill with a respiratory infection but was lovingly nursed back to health by her husband Lawrence. He also contracted the illness and unfortunately died on Novemeber 21, 1924 in Versailles.
Martha returned to Findlay and raised her two sons alone.

Funeral services for Martha
Louise Hiegel, 87, Winebrenner Vil-
lage, will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday
at Coldren Crates Funeral Home, Dr.
Clyde C. Pinnell officiating. Burial
will be in Greenlawn Cemetery, Ver-
sailles
Visitation will be from 3-5 and 7-9
p.m. today at the funeral home.
Mrs. Hiegel died at 9:45 p.m. Mon-
day at Winebrenner Extended Care.
She was born Jan. 3, 1896, in
Findlay to Richard Edward and
Rose Anna Jacobs. On July 3, 1919
she married Lawrence Hiegel, who
died Nov. 21, 1924.
Surviving are two sons, Robert E.,
Fort Wayne, Ind.; Thomas R.,
Findlay; and three grandchildren.
Mrs. Hiegel was a bookkeeper for
Trout Furniture. She was a member
of the Business and Professional
Women's Club, St. Andrew's United
Methodist Church and a 50-year
member of the Order of the Eastern
Star, Findlay chapter 23.
Memorial may be made to
