Birth: Mar. 13, 1792
Death: Sep. 1, 1861

Lemuel Herrick was born 13 Mar 1792 in Charleston, Montgomery, New York, to Amos Herrick and Eunice (Scerle, Searl, or Scerl) Herrick. He was the 5th of 6 children. His siblings were: Simeon Herrick, 21 Jan 1783; Horatio Herrick, 19 Apr 1786; Samuel Herrick, 19 Aug 1788; Irad Herrick, 4 Jun 1796; Jeremiah Herrick, 15 Apr 1800.

Lemuel married Sally (Sarah) Judd, 27 Apr 1813, in Hamilton, Madison, New York. They had 11 children: Clinton Jeremia Herrick, 14 Jul 1814; Eliza Ann Herrick, 17 Nov 1815; Alonzo Jarquin Herrick, 10 Sep 1817; Lucinda Herrick, 18 May 1819; Clinton Herrick, 16 May 1821; Mary Elizabeth Herrick, 10 May 1823; Amanda Herrick, 10 Mar 1825; Lester James Herrick, 14 Dec 1827, Lucy Jane Herrick, 14 Dec 1827; Nelson Herrick, 6 Apr 1829; Diana Herrick, 29 Sep 1832.

Lemuel and Sally joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints early in its beginning. They followed Joseph Smith and later Brigham Young through many of the churches troubled times. Sally died 17 Nov 1841 in Nauvoo, Illinois while the church was flourishing there. Just a few years later Lemuel would be fleeing with the rest of his family and the rest of the Mormons. He remained in Pisqah, Iowa until 1850 when he continued his jouney on to Winter Quarters, Nebraska. Winter Quarters was located just North of present day Omaha, Nebraska.

Lemuel would be leaving Winter Quarters on 11 Jun 1850, at the age of 56, with the James Pace Company along with Amanda Herrick, Diana Herrick, Lester James Herrick, Lucy Jane Herrick, Nelson Herrick and two married daughters Eliza Ann (Herrick) Keyes and Lucinda (Herrick) Keyes and their husbands Harrison and Perry Keyes and grandchildren. Perry Keyes, his son-in-law, and Zenas Keyes, one of his grandchildren, died on the trek to the Salt Lake Valley.

Lemuel settled in Ogden, Utah where he died 11 years later on 1 Sep 1861.
