Miss Marietta Reps, School Teacher for 50 Years, Dies Sun.

Miss Marietta N. Reps, 83, of 1002 Concert street, a retired public school teacher died Sunday at 3:15 am in St. Joseph hospital where she had been a patient since June 7. Miss Reps taught in the Keokuk schools for 50 years starting in 1892 and continuing until 1942 when she retired. During all of this long period she taught second grade, first in the old Concert street school and later at George Washington where she was teaching at the time of her retirement. A life long resident of Keokuk, she was born here October 13, 1865, the daughter of William and Helen Bauer Reps. Her father was a musician of talent and taught classes here for many years. She was an active member of St. John's Episcopal church. Surviving are a nephew, Walter Tucker of Quincy, a niece, Mrs. Monroe (Helen) Jackman of Bellingham, Wash. as well as other relatives. Two brothers and two sisters preceded her in death. The funeral will be held in the Schmidt Memorial Home at 4 pm Tuesday with burial at Oakland cemetery.
