Charles Pendergrast, 76, of Clear Lake side Sunday, May 1, at Skagit Valley Hospital and Health Center.
He was born October 10, 1911, at Devils Lake, North Dakota. He moved to Washington at age 6 with his parents, Charles & Nettie Pendergrast. He was raised in National, near Mount Rainier.
He lived in Ashford and Bucoda, and graduated from Tenino High School. His family moved to Clear Lake in 1930 to work at Clear Lake Lumber Mill. He later operated Clear Lake Garage.
He married Josephine Russel in 1934.
Mr. Pendergrast contracted tuberculosis and spent several years at Riverton Sanitarium where he learned watch repair. After his recovery, he opened a jewelry and gift shop in Clear Lake.
In 1947 he married Rose Hoerugel. They operated the watch repair shop until their retirement in 1972.
He was active in Community Covenant Church in Clear Lake and helped build the church building.
He is survived by his wife, Rose; a daughter and son-in-law, Jeanette and Ron Beam, of Canby, Oregon; a grandson and his wife, Greg and Nancy Beams of Seattle; a granddaughter and her husband, Tom & Kathy Hinderman of Marysville; 2 great grandsons, Bryce & Todd Hinderman; a brother, Lesley Pendergrast of Burlington; and many nieces & nephews.
He was preceded in death by a brother and 2 sisters.
Memorials are suggested to Community Covenant Church in Clear Lake.
