Angelina Elsa "Angie" Bailey of Republic, Missouri, formerly of Aurora, Missouri, passed away at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 16, 2008, at the Cox South Hospital in Springfield, Missouri at the age of 80. She was born October 17, 1927 in Shaw, Mississippi to Marino and Frances (Pandolfi) Gainspoletti. In 1953 Angie married Thomas Allen Bailey who preceded her in death in 1980. Her parents, four sisters, Louise Canonici, Irene Mazzanti, Rosa Mancini, Jennie Cibula and brother, Christmas "Chris" Gainspoletti also preceded her in death.
Angie grew up on a cotton farm in Mississippi. Worked as a seamstress in a sewing factory and was a caregiver for priests. She lived in the Aurora community with her daughter and family prior to her stay at Christian Health Care this past year. Angie was a member of the Aurora United Methodist Church, was an active member of JC & Co., and on the Oats Bus committee. She proudly accepted the P.A.L. Award at her church.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Dr. Steve Drew of Republic, Missouri; four granddaughters, Christy Clubbs and her husband, Talmage of Granby, Missouri, Michelle Black and her husband, Brad, of Joplin, Missouri, and Charlotte Drew and her fiancÚ, Ryan McKnight, of Columbia, Missouri, Danielle Drew of Springfield, Missouri; three great grandchildren, Emilee and Ashlee Clubbs, and Noah Black; brother, Julius Gainspoletti of Cleveland, Mississippi; and sister, Mary Theresa Martolini of Chicago, Illinois.
A visitation will be held on Monday, October 20, 2008, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Crafton-Cantrell Funeral Home. A funeral service, under the direction of the Crafton-Cantrell Funeral Home, will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 21, 2008, at the Aurora United Methodist Church. Memorial donations are requested to JC & Co. in care of the funeral home.
