Marilyn Shirley Allred, 69, of Ventura, Calif., died Thursday, Jan. 8, 2009, at home after a two-year battle with ovarian cancer.
Her funeral will be Friday at 11 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Ventura.
Burial will follow in Ivy Lawn Mem-orial Park at Ventura under the direction of Ted Mayr Funeral Home.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
Marilyn Shirley Schnabel was born June 18, 1939, at Huron to Henry and Beatrice Schnabel. She graduated from Huron High School in 1957. She moved to Ventura where she worked as a telephone operator, waitress and managed the Pierpont Inn for more than 10 years.
She married Ray Allred July 30, 1966. They spent many years building and remodeling homes and apartments and spent 10 years building their dream home.
She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, doing extensive work in the genealogical library, coordinating compassionate service for members and participating in the choir. She was a 23-year breast cancer survivor.
She enjoyed their annual house boating trip at Lake Shasta, Calif., cooking, sewing, water skiing, camping and bargain shopping.
She is survived by her husband; two daughters, Christie (John Floyd) Allred-Killen of San Jose, Calif., and Melanie (Misael) Allred-Silva of Ventura, Calif.; a stepdaughter, Diana (Steve) Kohler; four grandchildren; two brothers, Bobby and Jack; and a sister, Pauline Schnabel.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Wilbur.
