George Tate Graves, 94, passed away in Ennis, Texas on January 22, 2013.

George was born in Ennis, Texas on December 18, 1918 to George Tate and Nell Cyril (Gordon) Graves, Sr. George grew up in Ennis and gradated from Ennis High School in 1936. On June 16, 1956 he married Dorothy Marie Harrison and they made their home in Ennis. He served in the United States Army during World War II in the Pacific Theater serving as a Staff Sergeant.

He worked for the Southern Pacific for forty-four years as a crew caller and for Ennis Business Forms for nine years in security. He was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church, V.F.W., American Legion and the Knights of Columbus.

He is survived by one son, Kevin Graves of Ennis; granddaughters: Michelle Lowther of Austin and Rebecca Hausmann of Stanten Island, NY; grandsons: Bryan Wilkins of Myrtle Beach, SC, Craig Wilkins of West Palm Beach and Scott Wilkins of Austin; three great-grandchildren: Cara Fain Julie Cabral and Emily Wilkins and special friends, Gail Bralick, Rhonda and Jeff Blankenhorn.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Graves on August 7, 1994, daughter, Jere Lynn Alford in 2004, son Thurman Whitfill, son-in-law, George Winn, one brother and two sisters.

Visitation will be on Thursday, January 24, 2013 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. in the J.E. Keever Mortuary of Ennis. A Celebration of his life will take place on Friday, January 25, 2013 at 2 p.m. in the J.E. Keever Mortuary Chapel of Ennis with Rev. Henry Drozd officiating. Interment will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery under the direction of J.E. Keeve Mortuary, Inc.
