Walter J. Adamik October 17, 1920 - June 5, 2008 NORWICH - Walter J. Adamik, 87, of Norwich, died on Thursday, June 5, 2008, at Glastonbury Healthcare Center. He was born on October 17, 1920 in Windber, Pennsylvania, the son of the late Thomas and Anna (Lach) Adamik. Walter grew up in Pennsylvania and relocated to Norwich in 1937. He married Albina Woziwoda on August 30, 1952 in Springfield, Massachusetts who predeceased him in March 2007. Walter worked as a welder for over 40 years at Electric Boat in Groton. He retired in 1985 and continued to pursue his passion for gardening. He was a long time parishioner of St. Joseph Church. He is survived by two daughters, Mary Ann Surprenant, and her husband, Paul, of Norwich and Joanne Adamik of South Windsor; two grandchildren, Michael and Matthew Surprenant; and one sister, Mary Stupi of Stow, OH; He was predeceased by four brothers, John, Leo, Frank and Joseph Adamik; Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, June 10, from 10:00 a.m. till 12:00 noon, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 12:30 p.m. at St. Joseph Church. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations in his memory may be made to either the Master Gardener Program at the Home and Garden Education Center, University of Connecticut, 1380 Storrs Rd, Unit 4115, Storrs, CT 06269 or to the SS. Cyril & Methodius Seminary, 3535 Indian Trail, Orchard Lake, MI 48324.
