|Birth: ||Apr. 8, 1866, England|
|Death: ||Mar. 24, 1949|
Harry Ager, son of Henry May and Emma Ireland Ager was born in Devonshire, England, April 8, 1866 and departed for that home eternal in the heavens March 24, 1949, at the age of 82 years, 11 months and 16 days.
He was preceded in death by his parents, 4 brothers and 2 sisters, namely: George, William, John, Nelson, Mrs. A. M. Killinger and Miss Lillie Ager.
On October 25, 1893, he was united in marriage to Mary Frances Davidson and to this happy union were born the following children: Mrs. Henry Copenhaver, Miss Lelia Ager and Kent Ager, all of Crockett; Rhea of Roanoke; Mrs. W. B. Cassell of Austinville; Ernest of Marion and Mrs. C. S. Hilton of Somerset, Ky.
As a youth, he united with the Methodist church of which he remained a faithful and consistent member. For half a century he was active in the work of the church, serving in official capacities and as choir leader. He was a gifted singer and enjoyed singing for the glory of God.
Brother Ager lived as he prayed, loved God and his Church with all his being, he was exemplary in his dealings with others and was among one of the kindest of men.
He is survived by his widow all the children mentioned above, one sister, Miss Fannie Ager of Wytheville, seven grandchildren and one great grandchild.
When the mystic messenger of the heavenly land came for brother Ager, the community lost a choice neighbor, the church a member, true and tried, the widow a tender loving husband, the children a wonderful father and I lost a dear and considerate friend.
"Servant of God, well done!
Thy glorious warfare's past,
The battle's fought, the race is won,
And thou art crowned at last."
