Samuel Henry Ellington was the son of Charles and Ellen Allen Ellington. He was married to LaVonia Francis Rowe.

Samuel Henry Ellington was born Aug. 20, 1858 in North Carolina and came to Missouri in 1883. He was united in marriage to Levona F. Rowe Oct. 1, 1885. To this union six children were born, four died in infancy. One son, John W. Ellington, died in Phoenix Arizona in 1918.
Mr. Ellington is survived by his widow, one son, Edgar L. Ellington of Crane, Mo., and five grandchildren, Charles Lee, Geneva, Eugene and Opal Ellington of Crane, Mo., and J.C. Ellington who has made his home with his grandparents at Eugene since the death of his parents.
Mr. Ellington united with the Hickory Hill Baptist Church in August 1891 and 17 years ago changed his membership to the Christian Church at Eugene where he was an active and constant member as long as his health permitted. He has been in failing health for the past five years and was patient through his illness.
Funeral services were held at the church in Eugene by the Rev. W.H. Scott of Eldon. Burial was in the Eugene Cemetery.
