John S. Egan, Jr. of El Dorado died Wednesday at his home in El Dorado. John was born September 28, 1931 in Ft. Smith, Arkansas the son of John S. and Flora Bollinger Egan. He grew up in Sapulpa, Oklahoma and graduated from high school. He also attended Northeastern University and Oklahoma State University. On June 4, 1955 he was united in marriage to Kay Faulkner in Sapulpa. He came to Towanda in 1976 where he farmed. He was active in his community and served as a past president of U.S.D. 375 and was a member of the Lion's Club. He was active in Boy Scouts of America having received his Eagle Award and in later years served as a scoutmaster. During the Korean War he served his country in the United States Marine Corps. He was a faithful member of St. John's Catholic Church.
Surviving family include his wife Kay of the home; sons Mike and wife Ellen Egan, Chris Egan, Pete and wife Laura Egan, Pat and wife Johnna Egan, Paul and wife Toni Egan, Joe Egan and Mark Egan; daughters, Anne and husband Steve Clair, Carol and husband Brian Dunne, and Mary Egan; brother, Pete Egan; 17 grandchildren. A daughter Sara Kathleen Egan preceded him in death.
