Captain Dacres came from a long line of high ranking Royal Navy officers. He entered the Royal Navy as a Cadet in 1861 and rose through the ranks with distinguished service. He died of illness in the Royal Hospital in Yokohama. He left his widow, Ethel Christina Lambert Dacres, whom he married July 17, 1883, and two children Leonard Seymour, born about 1885, and Winifred Ethel, born about 1886.
Ethel never remarried and died in Hove, Sussex in 1936.
Leonard was Captain the 21st. Indian Cavalry and died of typhus April 20,1919 in Baghdad.
Winifred married Cyril Minden Trower Hogg, who reached the rank of Lt. Colonel. She died September 15, 1951. Her grave can be found on findagrave.com, Christ Church churchyard, Crookham, Hampshire.
